After you have made a convenient appointment we will visit your home to carry out a free survey to establish your exact requirements

  • W.C. - some waste pipes make it difficult to fit a back to wall w.c.
  • Sinks - check the size of the sink some sinks are to big for the size of bathroom
  • Taps - some bath taps are not suitable for low pressure water systems
  • Shower - do you have a pressurised water system thermostatic mixer shower might be better than electric
  • Shower screens - in smaller toilets a fold back shower screen gives more room
  • Walls - what are the walls made of - some walls can only hold 20 kg per s.q.m. of tiles and adhesive
  • Tiles - what kind of tiles - some tiles require sealing
  • Floors - chip wood and floor board floors must be over boarded with backer board or ply at a suitable thickness before tiling
  • Tiles - tiles over 300mm x 300mm require to be fixed with a cement based tile adhesive
  • Tanking - most grout is only water resistant and shower areas require tanking

Tanking explained :-

as grout is only water resistant and not waterproof over time the water can penetrate the plasterboard behind the tile making the board soft an causing tiles to fall of the wall as in the picture below

The walls should be cement backer board or plaster board painted with waterproof coating as in the middle picture or with waterproof matting as in picture on right this will keep the walls in your shower water proof
